Prospective Technological Solutions

The biggest impediment to broad adoption of an achievement system for reading books is that we have to take participants' word for it. Should we fix this with implants? Nanotechnology? None of that. Eye-tracking will fix it. Of course people will simulate eye movements, of course devices will be calibrated to disqualify speeds above a certain rate, and of course true cheating enthusiasts will master the precise upper bound, just like the fighters in Dune. Once we have those, we won't even need AI.
