Halloween Sorting

Let's examing the categories of how people celebrate Halloween in particular and October generally.

Halloween Horror Type: These people watch well-reviewed horror movies and play Alien: Isolation.
Halloween Irony Type: These people watch Friday the 13th movies after the first one and play Unity asset flips.
Halloween Spooky Type: These people carve jack o'lanterns, put skeletons in their yard, and play Castlevania and Disgaea.

There is a group which does nothing at all, but it's better not to say anything about that. The important thing is to find your faction and coordinate to win the Splatoon Splatfest which will have this as its theme any day now. Spooky Type is clearly the most popular, but Irony Type probably has better players.

Unless it's one of those scifi series where mummy lords sit on the command thrones of pyramid-shaped space dreadnaughts that are so common today.

Physique Reminder

Unless you have a good reason to against this, your story's villain should be absolutely shredded, just an unbelievable specimen of musculature. This is true in all speculative fiction genres including alternative history.

The Future of Fantasy

We've had enough dark fantasy. It's time for smark fantasy. That's right, secondary world professional wrestling. Think of the gimmicks! The giant guy could be an actual giant. That's all. That's the only extra gimmick. Except for . . . Mummies! I was lying before, because there are many options.

Now if they ever make a new Shining Force, mummies are all but guaranteed. It's all about style, you know. That goes for everything on this planet. Now on Mars, people only care how many customization options there are. Weirdos.

Will it be cyberpunk? Cybernonpunk? Those are the only two options. Mummycore is right out.

Thrilling Space Commerce

"Approaching the destination, Captain."
"Good. Put it on the viewscreen." Before the crew appeared a celestial body unlike any other, a thing of majesty and ancient rites no product of the modern age could contemplate without terror.
"The mummy planet," an officer breathed. The captain suppressed his irritation and spoke calmly.
"You are not to refer to Ferrande 4 as the mummy planet while on this ship," he reminded the crew.
"But sir! It's covered in bandages!" The officer pointed at the screen, as if none of the others had failed to notice the mysterious wrappings that covered every acre of the world and waved in the cosmic wind.
"And when our company's bid to replace those bandages is accepted, we'll all get a comfortable bonus. That will only happen if we don't offend the locals." The captain leaned back. "If there are any," he muttered, for even he was unable to deny his dread of the bizarre planet's secrets. He was, however, able to overlook it so long as there was a payout at the end. What will Capcom do to keep Street Fighter relevant for modern audiences? A hard magic system, sexy mummies, and a pirate captain with a very sophisticated parrot, probably. And tons of DLC, but you already knew that.
