Addendum

That isn't an endorsement of anything else that goes on in Star Wars books. This is, though: People would definitely watch and bet on blob-racing if it existed.

A Hint of Maturity

When I was young, I thought it was silly when some author of Star Wars licensed novels decided to use "slicer" as an in-universe equivalent of "hacker." Now that I'm venerable, I still think that's a silly practice but I realize slicer is a cooler term for it anyway.

Addender

Of course what we all really want is one of those Inspector Gadget books. How did a little girl and a dog get that anyway? Theft? Misappropriation of funds? Aliens? The Greatest American Hero aliens?

Addendum

Most enticingly, instead of a blurb about the book bought from some author whose name has never before crossed your desk, you can get coverplates with blurbs about you, the reader. ". . . immaculate taste . . ." is one example, or how about, "If you have to be read by one person this year, make it this one?"

Merchandizer Go

Remember Xbox 360 faceplates? Let's make those but for books. It's not like cover art is any good, so we might as well replace it with an R2-D2 or a flaming skull.

Warhammer 40k Seems to Be Doing Well These Days

Is it because it keeps having the same problems it's always had while other genre franchises have been trying to kill themselves as inventively as possible? Yes.

"It must have been a stylistic choice to make the sports scenes in these movies this slow-paced" - sports fans of the future
"In Rookie of the Year we see the beginning of athletics as we understand them." - movie critic of the future
"Why are Jedi Knights so bad at jumping?" - people of the future

Addendum

It's as if everyone had a marathon of Star Wars and Back to the Future and realized having a 3D blurry picture of a guy is of no use whatsoever, to say nothing of aesthetics.

Ambiguous Sobriquets

I always figured "the Hutt" was a nickname, but it has been decided that while it is a nickname, it is simply his species, much like Jimmy the Greek. It makes sense, but I still like mine better. What really puzzles me is Ookla the Mok.

Big Decisions

Suppose I'm going to grab stuff straight out of mythology. Do I change the names or not? Familiarity might increase interest, but maybe it will seem old and creaky like Star Wars. One option is to compromise by making their middle names the same, but having Benjamin Orpheus McFadden explain that his parents were a musician and a Greek language professor will not come off as being as clever as the writer would hope.

Now That This Is a James Bond Fanblog

Hey how about that latest James Bond news? That there isn't going to be any? What do you think about the fact that it takes them longer not to make a movie than it used to take to make one? That they take three times as long to make products that are zero point eight two times as good? That nearly the entire entertainment industry has suffered some kind of silent cataclysm and can't get it together? They can't even make Star Wars games, and Amazon accidentally gave hundreds of millions of dollars to a couple nobodies to make Silmarillion fanfiction. What happened?

The New Star Wars Series

It's about an Imperial admiral who analyzes the strategic approaches of his enemies by listening to them type. How does he get typing samples? A thrilling espionage story begins!

A Mechanical Question

Did Grand Moff Tarkin get all the XP for blowing up Alderaan, or did he share it with everyone on the Death Star? I bet he had to share it. Should have given all the Imperial Navy guys shore leave first.

Charity

Before we say too much about naming a scifi musical style "jizz," let us remember what scat is.

The Definition of Science Fiction

It's a neverending argument. On the one side are people who say science fiction must be about exploring the social ramifications of plausible technologies (certainly not faster than light travel). On the other side is every scifi story ever written.

Popular Elements in Fantasy and Scifi

At this juncture I must remind everyone that Star Wars has knights in it. Arthurian stories also have knights. Is this a coincidence? When it comes right down to it, 100% of those two popular series have knights. Join the knight wave! Get A Bundling of Knightly Deeds on Kindle today!
